Construction Update: Building the Walls

Building the Walls

The crew is now laying the block for the walls for the lower units. With the temperatures the way they have been, they must tent and heat for the block work. It's exciting as you can see the progress every day!

The grade beams will support the block walls and form the core of the sound proofing between the units.

Construction Update: Drilling the Pilings

Drilling the Pilings

Here's a photo from October 4, 2007. It shows the drilling of the auger cast pilings that the grade beams will sit on. These cement pilings are 40' and 50' long to support these buildings, providing strength and sound suppression.

Gold Coast Marina Grand Opening!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 2, 2007
Gold Coast Marina celebrates Frankfort with a Grand Opening Celebration

(Frankfort, Michigan) – A Grand Opening Celebration is scheduled to take place August 11, 2007 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at the future site of the Gold Coast Marina on beautiful Betsie Bay. The new community is located at the site of existing Mitchell Marina in downtown Frankfort, an Historic sailing harbor directly adjacent to the old Coast Guard Station. Gold Coast is a luxury condominium community and yacht marina designed to cater to those looking for a marine lifestyle. All are welcome to enjoy food and beverage while getting to know new owners, Paul and Rosie Dixon, and to celebrate the Frankfort community.

"It was love at first sight", says Rosie Dixon of Frankfort. On their very first visit, she and Paul were completely enamored with the beautiful community and all that it offered. They found that Frankfort and the harbor just kept "calling them back", and made a pledge to make the water, the Marina, and Frankfort their home. It began with them renting a slip and making Frankfort their weekend and summer retreat. When Mitchell Marina became available for sale in 2005 they worked hard toward making their dream a permanent reality. They have succeeded.

Gold Coast Marina will break ground in August 2007 with a renovation and expansion of the existing Marina that will include 50 dockominiums. A deepwater harbor, slips will range from 30 to 80 feet and be available for the 2008 season.

Six luxury condominiums will be developed beginning in Phase 1 and will be ready for occupancy in time for the Memorial Day weekend. Two and three bedroom homes will be offered ranging in size from 1200-1800 square feet and priced from just $720,000. Only the highest quality finishes and features will be used truly making these luxury condominiums. Home owners may choose from 6 interior vignettes to customize their space, or take advantage of total custom upgrades. Every aspect of Gold Coast has been created to meet the individual needs and wants of home owners, captains, and crew.

Floor plans, site plans and finishes will be available for review during the openhouse celebration in the model showroom.

The Dixons' have assembled what they refer to as their "dream team" to make their vision become a reality. Noted designers, Cornerstone Architects of Traverse City, have been retained for the project and have succeeded in creating a community that flows beautifully into the harbor and into the community. 45th Parallel will be project managers with Kitchen Choreographers of Traverse City providing the interior design. Leelanau Communications of Leland Michigan will be creating their website and will provide communications and marketing management.
